Field work and occupational safety

The topic of field work and safety at work and the obligations of employers in terms of safety at work are most often dealt with by employers

Employers engaged in service, installation, construction and IT activities because it often happens that employees do their job outside the premises of the company (i.e. in the premises of the client or customer).

To summarize, if you do not work at all in your own business premises, but are always working in the field / with clients, the obligations are as follows:

1. Development of a risk assessment and training plan
2. Training employees to work in a safe manner
3. Training of employees for initial firefighting
4. Training of the employer or the employer’s delegate.

If you have your own space and field work, I have good news for you: you are always responsible exclusively for the location under your control – whether you are the owner of that location or are rented. No one (not even the state) expects you to have to test the correctness of electrical installations, the working environment, etc. in the premises of your clients.

Your employees must be trained and adequately equipped, in the risk assessment will be specially recorded and field work will be processed and that is all that is expected of you.

Of course, your employees are expected to behave in accordance with the prescribed rules and occupational safety measures for their workplaces. The fact that the developer works in the client’s premises rather than at the employer does not give him the right to climb the chair and play Superman.
